For example, an LED display with a 1.9 mm pitch that has over 1M pixels for every 5 square meter wall can cost around $15,000 – $24,000/ square meter. It can drop or rise depending on the pixel pitch and the brand you are using. 

You should consider the viewing distance when choosing the right pixel pitch. Check online calculators to see the industry recommendation for pixel pitches and distances before you buy indoor LED display.

4. How does an indoor LED display get installed?

Here are the general steps on how to install an indoor LED display:

  1. Unpack the LED cabinets. During this step, make sure not to hit the modules or drag them to avoid damage to the display. Also, be careful with the LEDs on the plates’ corners and sides because they are prone to damage.
  2. Place the modules next to each other to begin mounting the screen. An anchoring mechanism is typically found on the upper and later parts of the cabinets. These will allow you to make horizontal and vertical connections.
  3. A zigzag order must be followed for the data wiring process between the cabinets. You can do this by starting from the one located in the bottom left. The data in and out port must then be connected with the modules.
  4. LED screens usually have integrated power wiring, so it’s easy to establish the power supply. Once the power supply is ready, test the screen if it works and do calibration for the color and brightness through the settings.

The minimum and maximum viewing distance refer to the optimum viewing distance of a person from a screen. 

The minimum range commonly refers to the distance recommended by indoor LED display manufacturers. 

Meanwhile, the maximum is the distance where viewing is still comfortable for your eyes. The size of the screen mostly determines the minimum and maximum viewing distance. 

To calculate the minimum and maximum viewing distance, you must first know the screen size you will use. For example, if it’s a 50-inch LED screen display. In this case, your minimum viewing distance is 60 inches, and the maximum is 125 inches. 

6. How do I choose the correct indoor LED display?

These are the main factors to consider that will help you find the correct indoor LED display:

  • Brightness 

The brightness of an LED display is measured with its number of nits. You will be able to identify the brightness requirement you need based on where you intend to position it. It must be around 600 nits for indoors, but if you plan to put it outside, it should be around 2,000 nits. 

  • Pixel Pitch 

Pixel pitch is a term used to determine the distance between the nearby pixels, diodes, SMD, and other groups of LEDs for an LED display. The smaller the pixel pitch is, the higher the screen resolution. 

  • Maintenance 

An easy to maintain LED display must have front and back access. Those with front access are much easier to maintain, but they tend to be more expensive and have a more complex design. 

7. What's The Most Prominent Differences Between Indoor LED Screen Display And Outdoor LED Screen Display?

Indoor and outdoor LED screen displays are highly similar products. However, they also have a lot of differences. Here are some of the aspects that show their major differences: 

  • Appearance 

It is easy to identify outdoor and indoor LED displays by simply looking at their appearance. Commercial outdoor LED displays are usually bigger in size and bulkier. 

  • Weather Condition Resilience 

Outdoor LED displays are designed to withstand outdoor environments, which is why most of them have anti-lightening, waterproof, and dustproof features. 

  • Brightness 

Outdoor LED screen displays are typically brighter than indoor ones. This is because if indoor LED displays are too bright, they can cause glares in the vision of the person watching, especially when it’s in a dark, small room. 

  • Resolution & Pixel Pitch 

Outdoor LED displays require lesser resolution but more pixel pitch because they are usually seen from a far distance. Meanwhile, indoor LED displays need smaller pixel pitch and resolution for better visual quality.

8. How energy-efficient are indoor LED displays?

Indoor LED displays are considered to be highly energy-efficient compared to other types of screens. This is because when LEDs display images on the screen, it creates different levels of light. For some images, it does not emit any light at all, which is when they can save energy.

 To calculate how energy efficient an indoor display is, you can use this formula: (2 m2 x 365 days x 400 w/m2 x 24 hours).

 Take note that the formula mentioned above will only provide you with an estimate of its efficiency. Other factors may cause your indoor LED displays to consume more energy, such as level of brightness and screen resolution.

9. How long do indoor LED displays last?

LED displays generally last around 100,000 hours or 10 to 11 years. However, the life expectancy of an indoor LED mainly depends on the following factors: 

  • Temperature 

Your indoor LED display’s operating temperature is one of the main factors that determine its life expectancy. High temperature causes more significant wear and tear. 

To avoid this, ensure that your LED displays are well designed and ventilated. 

  • Operating Current 

Most indoor LED displays function at 350mA. Although a higher current increases the luminous efficiency, it can significantly decrease its life expectancy.   • Maintenance

Here are the different materials used to create indoor LED display cabinets:

This material is used for both outdoor and indoor LED display cabinets. What makes sheet metal a better option is that the cabinet’s size and shape can be customized according to the client’s request. 

  • Aluminum Profile 

This is usually used for indoor LED displays. It is a portable material, and it has high stitching precision. The advantage of this material is that it’s affordable. However, it is not waterproof at all. 

  • Die-casting Aluminum 

Die-casting aluminum is not the same as aluminum profile since this can also be used for outdoor LED displays. 

The advantage of using this is that it has high intensity and stitching precision. It’s just that it’s more expensive, especially when you buy it in fewer quantities.

11. Is it possible to control an indoor LED display remotely?

Yes, it is possible to control an indoor LED display remotely. In fact, there are some brands that have an internet connection feature that enables it to be controlled remotely. However, indoor LED displays with this feature are often more expensive than those with standard operation.

 It is also possible to remotely control indoor LED displays with a USB drive by using a special software package. These will allow you to perform several functions such as monitoring, brightness adjustment, on/off setting, program schedule, and many more.

12. How much power does an indoor LED display consume?

The power that an indoor LED display consumes depends on its size. A typical indoor LED display that is full follows around 800 to 1000 nits. If this is the case, the average power consumption is around 250W, and the maximum consumption is 500W. 

To calculate the power consumption of your indoor LED displays, you can follow this formula: 

(Max power consumption) x (Working hours per day) x ( Electricity per kilowatt) x (screen size) = estimated power consumption. 

However, other factors such as the following may also affect the power consumption of an indoor LED display: 

  • Mode of operation 

LED drivers are made to provide consistent and regulated power supply to a single-module solution or constant current driver responsible for regulating the display’s current. 

  • Light sensors 

These are also known as photosensitive devices. This works by measuring the brightness levels of the surrounding so that the display can adjust accordingly. The more it is triggered, the higher energy it consumes. 

  • Brightness 

If your display’s brightness setting is high, the chances of it consuming more power are also higher.

13.Why is a higher resolution indoor LED display not always the better choice?

The reason why indoor LED displays with higher resolution are not always the best choice is human eye limitation. A person with a 20/20 eyesight is only able to distinguish details that 1/60 of a degree apart.

 This means that you will not even notice and appreciate the display’s full resolution at a certain distance and screen size. This is why there’s no point to buy indoor LED displays with extremely high resolution, especially since they are more expensive.
